One of the things I struggled with in the 4Runner right away was a good spot to keep my phone. In this rig I wanted to mount my phone in a location where I could use it for navigation as the OEM Toyota nav left a lot to be desired. After some research I learned there aren’t a lot of great options unless you want to mount to the windshield, which I do not. I had looked at the ProClip mounts, which I had used in the past with success, but wasn’t thrilled with how they blocked the vent in the 4Runner.

In the end I went with a RAM Mount setup with a mechanical connection to the dash via drilling a hole and using a bolt. So far I must say I am very pleased with this setup and location. I don’t think the phone could get much more secure and it is visible without blocking any buttons or vents.
